Kamala

Her serious interest in Yoga began once she was exposed to the wisdom and clarity of the Raja Yoga tradition, the science of the mind, through the Yoga sutras of Patanjali.  She is filled with fervour concerning Raja Yoga -the science of the mind – and from her own experience knows that we all need to find balance and peace of mind, to be able to live an  easeful, peaceful and useful life.

Her greatest daily challenge and wish are to be a devoted mother to her three children, a good partner and also to be able to share the wonderful world of yoga with everyone. She is always  searching to find an increased interior understanding of herself through meditation and asanas.            Kamala is a certified International Raja Yoga teacher and Integral Hatha Yoga teacher, committed to helping people make yoga part of their daily  lives. As a teacher she has seen the huge impact which Yoga can have on the quality of life of those who practice it. Nalanie

Friends of SIS

Nalanie was born in 1954 into a distinguished, leading family in Hong Kong, the Harilelas. Nurtured by very spiritual Hindu parents and educated at a Catholic Convent school, she grew up in the presence of a close family friend, who, unbeknown at the time, was to have a deep and lasting influence in her life. This frequent visitor and friend was Sri Swami Satchidananda, her Beloved Gurudev. In 1986 Nalanie formally became a disciple of His Holiness Sri Swami Satchidananda and continued her study of the science of yoga under His Holiness’ guidance.  She has been accredited by the Council of Teachers of the Satchidananda Ashram in Virginia, USA to teach Asanas, Pranayama and Meditation. She is also an accredited Teacher Trainer for Integral Yoga and a therapist under the British School of Yoga. She is the Chairwoman of the Integral Yoga Centre in Gibraltar where she runs regular weekly satsangs, teacher training and counseling sessions. This Centre is a registered  Charity serving the community. Nalanie, who now lives in Spain, frequently lectures on the Science of Yoga, in Portugal, Spain. Germany. the United Kingdom, the USA and the Far East. She is the first of a new generation  of spiritual teachers. Her particular upbringing and education has given her a special insight into both Hinduism and Christianity, inspired by her Beloved Guru. She is also the founder of  ‘Service in Satchidananda’, a non-profit international collective of charities established in honor of Sri Swami Satchidananda and based on his core teaching of selfless service.

Her example as a mother, businesswoman and now grandmother, who has devoted her life to God and His service, has been a beacon to her students. She shows that it is not necessary to  withdraw from life in order to find the ‘Guru within’.

In March 2008, Nalanie received an Honor in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second New Year Honour’s List. She was recognised for her ‘Services to Humanity’. His Excellency the Governor of Gibraltar, Sir Robert Fulton, presented her with a certificate and medal. In October 2008, Nalanie was also awarded a Humanitarian Award from Yogaville, Virgina, USA.

Vanessa

Friends of SISVanessa studied law with a specialization in European law and worked for some time at the European commission. She saw it was all about laws and not about people. So she became a journalist foreign affairs at the Belgian commercial television VTM. There she found the love of writing, but again there was something missing. In 1998 she met her husband Maurice with who she is married now for over 13 years and has two daughters. Together they build out a large business of retail and home sales and Vanessa became an optician-optometrist as well. She gave for many years people a good view with their eyes but she wanted to give people a good view with their hearts because it is the only way to see the existential things in live.

She read lots of Spiritual books of Eckhart Tolle, Louise Hay, Drunvalo Melchezedek, Dr Wayne Dyer and followed lots of spiritual courses all over the world but there was still a piece missing of the puzzle until in April of this year 2012 she met Nalanie Chellaram who introduced her to the “Yoga Sutras of Patanjali” translation and commentary by Sri Swami Satchidananda. This gave her such an overview of what life is all about, how to live a peaceful life by steadying the mind and connect with who and what you are and at the same time this knowledge is so profound and deep that it gives you the tools to heal yourself so Vanessa started to study to become a Raja Yoga Teacher. She went to London, Portugal to go deeper into the teachings and will be graduated end of the year so she can teach and spread out this knowledge so that people start to feel better and connect with their true nature that is unconditional love until eternity.
